In our weekly question segment Dylan wants to know if he is able to go to an auction just to watch or if he has to register in order to attend.

Hey there! It’s Casey Denman here with TaxSaleAcademy.com, answering your weekly question. This week’s question comes from Dylan. And he says, “I’m interested in investing in tax sale properties, but would like to first go to watch an auction so I’d know what to expect. Is this allowed or do you have to register to bid in order to attend?”
Dylan, great question here. It is absolutely 100% allowed. You’re more than welcome to go to the auction without any intention of ever bidding. As a matter of fact, I actually recommend it to a lot of my students. If you’re a little bit timid or intimidated even by the auction atmosphere, by all means, go and attend an auction. Play it out as if you’re going to bid on a piece of property. Arrive early. See how many people get there. Watch some people as they register so you know what’s going on. Figure out if there are lines or whatnot. Listen to the rules that the auctioneer explains. Watch properties become auctioned off. Talk to other investors. There’s a lot of information that you can learn just by going to watch these auctions. And the best part is, it is 100% free.
So attend these auctions, take notes, find out what’s going on so you become comfortable before you spend your hard-earned money investing in tax sale properties.
